T.E. Baxter Elementary principal Courtney Carpenter was named principal of the new Dolores McClatchey Elementary for 2016.

MIDLOTHIAN — On Friday, May 22, Judy Walling, acting superintendent, announced the appointment of Courtney Carpenter as principal for Dolores McClatchey Elementary. The new campus is scheduled to open August 2016.

"It is an honor and privilege to begin the journey of opening a new school in Midlothian ISD – a school that will become part of a dynamic community. Being a member of the Dolores McClatchey Elementary Design Team, I can visualize building a culture of learners and leaders in a transparent and collaborative school environment," said Carpenter.

"While serving as principal at T.E. Baxter Elementary, I have had the opportunity to engage in the work with extraordinary educators, dynamic students and supportive parents. Our campus’ recent Texas School of Character recognition has prepared me to develop a vision for opening a campus that begins with a culture of character development at its inception – a culture that truly believes in character development going hand-in-hand with academic development."

Carpenter earned a Master in Educational Administration from the University of North Texas. She has 17 years experience in education with 8 years teaching math in grades 3-11 and 5 years as an assistant principal in Midlothian ISD, Rockdale ISD and Cleburne ISD.

She is married to Craig Carpenter, MISD energy manager and MHHS coach. They have two children Kelsey (13) and Kasen (10).

Carpenter will assume her new role as Dolores McClatchey Elementary principal in January 2016. Her replacement for T.E. Baxter Elementary principal will be announced by October 2015.
