Two established Ellis County newspapers cutting back

ELLIS COUNTY — The Waxahachie Daily Light and Ennis Daily News have announced they will no longer be daily newspapers.

Waxahachie Daily Light

The Waxahachie Daily Light announced in a May 15 article stating they will be switching to a three day per week publication. They will be publishing on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

A June 3 Facebook post by the Waxahachie Daily Light also announced that the company would cease publishing the Waxahachie paper at the Waxahachie location.

"We are moving the printing to a production facility in Sherman," a social media post from the company stated.

The Waxahachie Daily Light is owned by GateHouse Media out of Pittsford, NY.

Ennis Daily News

The Ennis Daily News announced on Facebook that beginning June 18 they will be moving their print to two days per week.

Their print days will be Wednesday and Saturday.

The Ennis Daily News stated their reduced print days will result in a newspaper "comprised of 24-32 pages, all locally-sourced, with the return of dedicated sections like Health/Fitness, Arts/Lifestyles, Ennis History, a largely-expanded Sports section, and a variety of new pages sure to meet your interest."
