Hannah PaduchMIDLOTHIAN — Midlothian ISD is proud to celebrate Midlothian High School senior Hannah Paduch as being named a Semifinalist in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program.She earned semifinalist status by achieving the highest scoring on the 2014 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship during her junior year. Paduch is among approximately 16,000 academically talented high school seniors nationwide - the only student in Ellis County - who now have an opportunity to continue in the competition for 7,400 National Merit Scholarships worth $32 million that will be offered next spring.To become a Finalist, Paduch will submit a detailed scholarship application to include her academic record, participation in school and community activities, leadership abilities, and honors and awards received. Furthermore, she must have an outstanding academic record throughout high school, be endorsed and recommended by a high school official, write an essay, and earn SAT scores that confirm her earlier performance on the qualifying test.Paduch has attended Midlothian schools since kindergarten. She credited her academic success to being an avid reader, good study habits and persevering challenges with school and life itself. After graduation, she plans to attend college, major in biology and one day become a pediatrician.The 2016 National Merit Scholarship winners will be announced in April/May 2016.
