ITALY — The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has issued violations to the City of Italy water system for lead and chlorine reporting violations.

The City of Italy issued a public notice stating they have violated the monitoring and reporting requirements set by the TCEQ regarding reporting the results of chlorine monitoring and maintenance during the third quarter of 2014.

According to the City of Italy, the city properly disinfects the water before distribution, maintains acceptable residuals within the system, monitors the disinfectant residual at various locations throughout the distribution system, and is ensuring that it will report the results of the monitoring to the TCEQ on a quarterly basis.

According to the TCEQ, the violation has not been resolved but has been addressed informally and is on the path to compliance.

However, the TCEQ has an open Lead Consumer Notice (LCR) violation for the City of Italy relating to failure of reporting results of lead monitoring.

According to the TCEQ, this violation also has not been resolved but has been addressed informally and is on the path to compliance.
