Andres Miguel Mendez is wanted by Red Oak police in connection with a shooting that occurred on November 15, 2017. Police believe he has fled to Mexico.RED OAK — On Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at approximately 4:22 p.m., a shooting occurred in the 100 block of Summit Street in Red Oak, Texas.The preliminary investigation revealed that an apparent domestic altercation occurred resulting in a 25-year-old female being wounded with non-life threatening injuries from a single gunshot to her left thigh. She was flown to a metroplex hospital as a precaution only.After a preliminary ground search of the immediate area, on the day of the offense, officers ultimately determined that the suspect had left the scene in a vehicle after canvassing the area for witnesses. A witness stated they saw a person matching the description fleeing the area on foot and enter a vehicle and depart the area. However, a positive identification of the vehicle could not be made by a witness.It is believed through the Red Oak Police Department, with the assistance of the Department of Homeland Security, the Borders and Customs Division and Special agents assigned to I.C.E, that the suspect, Andres Miguel Mendez has fled the country to Mexico.Electronic intelligence coupled with exhaustive interviews conducted with his family have led police to the conclusion that Mendez has crossed the border. Police have sought the assistance of U.S. federal agencies and their Mexican Federal Police counterparts to assist in efforts to apprehend and prosecute the suspect in this offense.Arrest warrants have been issued for Andres Miguel Mendez for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a family member which is a first degree felony. There is no confirmed vehicle description at this time.
