Red Oak police make arrest in Whataburger robberies

Issaai Bustamante, 18, of Red Oak was arrested on October 5 in connected with the robbery of a Whataburger in Red Oak on May 16 and September 7. A juvenile suspect has also been identified by law enforcement.

RED OAK — One arrest made in Whataburger robberies and a second, juvenile, suspect identified.

On May 17, the Red Oak Police Department issued a press release of the aggravated robbery of Whataburger located at 215 S. State Highway 342 that took place the previous day at 2:57 a.m. The same Whataburger was robbed again on September 7 at 3:01 a.m.

Both of these robberies involved two Hispanic males between the ages of 16 to 22 and were believed to be the same individuals.

The Red Oak Police Department Criminal Investigation Division has identified both subjects in these robberies based on information being obtained from the Waxahachie Police Department and Ferris Police Department.

The first subject was identified as Issaai Bustamante, 18, of Red Oak. The second subject has been identified as a juvenile from Red Oak and a Directive to Apprehend is being issued for this subject.

On October 5, Bustamante was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated robbery in connect with the May 16 and September 17 robberies and is currently being held at the Ellis County Jail on a $1 million bond.
