About 80 people raised approximately $2,300 for Rebuilding America's Warriors during a fundraiser on April 16, 2016.

WAXAHACHIE — About 80 people attended the second annual fundraiser on April 16 supporting Rebuilding America's Warriors (R.A.W.). The event was hosted by Zone 3 of 3%ers Texas and held at the private Ronski CHL Class shooting range.

"Thanks to all that was able to make it out and help raise money for R.A.W. We brought in just over $2300," Ron Przybylski, owner of Ronski CHL Class, said following the event.

"I am thankful for all that donated to the door prizes. Just to name a few: Faith Armory, Cotton Patch, Academy, Heli-Hunt Texas, Edgar Suarez, and all the others. And most important I thank the good Lord our God for the BEAUTIFUL weather he gave us yesterday to make all this happen."

"R.A.W. is a non-profit foundation dedicated to providing free reconstructive surgery to recently wounded and disfigured active service and veteran status warriors," according to the R.A.W. website.

Duncanville resident, Matthew W. Blits, 35, knows first-hand the new sense of life R.A.W. provides wounded veterans.

"I started having problems with my teeth. I tried to get help from the VA, but since I wasn't 100% disabled, they wouldn't help me. I had pretty much given up," Blits said during an interview last year.

Blits said with the help of a generous donors and exceptional doctors, it was possible for him to undergo oral surgery.

"Before the help from R.A.W., I had no life. Due to the pain and how my mouth looked, I started to become a recluse. I was ashamed of how I looked. My marriage was failing," Blits said. "R.A.W. changed all of that."

A six-year army veteran, Blits completed one tour in Korea and a 13-month tour in Iraq. He returned from Iraq in March 2005.

According to R.A.W., the organization "has formed a network of 357 surgeons in 47 states, soliciting their services across the country to provide reconstructive surgeries on a national basis to our wounded and disfigured warriors."
