Sheriff’s Association of Texas awards second scholarship to ex-WISD student

WAXAHACHIE — Matthew Smith has been awarded a second $500 academic scholarship from the Sheriffs’ Association of Texas.

A 2011 graduate of Waxahachie High School, Matthew is working on his Bachelor of Arts degree in theater tech/design at Santa Fe University of Art and Design in Santa Fe, N.M. He plans to pursue graduate work at either New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts or Yale School of Drama.

Matthew is the son of Glen and Heidi Smith, and Shelley Smith. Glen Smith is an investigator with the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office; Heidi Smith is a telecommunicator with the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office.
