Lion Cubs Weekend Food Backpack Program needs help Posted in Ennis on March 01, 2015 by Staff Report Photo courtesy Ennis ISD. ENNIS — The Lion Cubs Weekend Food Backpack Program provides much-needed nutritious food during weekends to elementary children who have been identified as "chronically hungry."The good news is that both Dorie Miller Intermediate School and Jack Lummus Intermediate School have been added to the program. That means Austin, Bowie, Carver, Crockett, Houston, Lummus, Miller and Travis are all being served through this wonderful program. With the addition of these two schools, there will likely be an additional 100 chronically hungry children identified. This means the program is helping provide weekend food back packs to over 200 children weekly. The IMMEDIATE NEED is for two additional delivery volunteers to deliver food to the new schools. What that means is - every other Thursday, a delivery volunteer picks up food from a local warehouse and delivers it to the school.Pastor Darrell Nelson, Pastor Scott Brazell and Bruce Lattimer have been faithfully delivering food every other Thursday since this program began. However, with the addition of two more schools, it is too much for them to handle. Two additional delivery volunteers are needed as soon as possible! The commitment is for every other Thursday until the end of school. If you are interested in volunteering or know someone who is interested, please contact Marty Nelson via email at martynelson@aircanopy.net.If you would like to support this fantastic program with a donation, please use the information below.Lion Cubs PO Box 486 Ennis, Texas 75120 You may also be interested in readingEnnis archery qualifies for 2015 national meetEnnis Lions Parade of Champions set for Jan. 17Sheriff’s Office investigating fatal shootingEnnis States Significant Issues for Police Chief and City Manager DepartureEnnis to celebrate Indendepence Day with events all dayEnnis Farmer’s Market opens for second season on April 4Ennis FFA Houston Livestock Show resultsUber has expanded into Ellis CountyEISD school board candidate forum set for April 16Glenn Heights packs the fun in for the annual Family Festival on July 25 ← Mulch; It’s not just for looksMidlothian, Palmer and Waxahachie ISDs announce makeup days → Leave a Reply Cancel replyYou must be logged in to post a comment.
