ELLIS COUNTY — Ellis County Sheriff's Office Explorer Sgt. Trevor Snodgress has been accepted into the U.S. Army Military Police National Leadership Academy.

Nia Chene Hazeur, 24, of McKinney was taken into custody on charges of assault on a public servant and resisting arrest after attacking a Sheriff's Deputy Thursday, April 30.

Woman in custody after assaulting Sheriff’s Deputy

ELLIS COUNTY — On Thursday, April 30, an Ellis County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was dispatched to a location at St. Paul Road at U.S. Highway 287 in Mansfield in reference to a suspicious vehicle. Dispatch advised that witnesses had reported a woman doing "donuts: in a 2007 Toyota Corolla.

ECSO announces availability of free serial number registry service

ELLIS COUNTY — The Ellis County Sheriff's Office is pleased to announce the availability of a free serial number registry service for the public's use.

Charles Bailey Attaway, 38, of DeSoto was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on April 24, 2015 for continuous sexual abuse of a young child.

Child molester sentenced to life without parole

ELLIS COUNTY — A convicted child molester will spend the rest of his life in prison for sex crimes committed against a child. On April 24, 2015, an Ellis County jury sentenced 38-year-old Charles Bailey Attaway, of DeSoto, Texas, to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
