RED OAK — A suspect in the Jan. 7, 2018 Red Oak Mart armed robbery has been arrested and provided a full confession.
On Jan. 7 at 10:28 p.m., Red Oak Police Department personnel were dispatched to the Red Oak Mart located at 235 N. State Highway 342 in regard to a robbery that had just occurred.
The on-duty dispatcher advised that the reporting person informed them that a white male subject carrying a "long rifle" had just robbed them and ran off.
The suspect was described as a white male, 5'6-5'10, weighing 125-150 lbs and was last seen wearing all black with a black hood and orange hat, white t-shirt and a mask. The suspect took the cash from the register and the clerk's wallet and fled.
Red Oak Police Department personnel deployed an on-duty canine unit and tracked the suspect to a general location which led to the identification of a person of interest.
Upon further investigation, an interview with the person of interest led to a full confession and the recovery of the victim's wallet and weapon used by the defendant.
The Red Oak Police Department Criminal Investigation Division identified the defendant as 18-year-old Jaden Austin Grubbs of Red Oak.
Grubbs was arrested and charged on Jan. 10 with one count of aggravated robbery in connection with the Jan. 7 robbery. He is currently being held at the Wayne McCollum Detention Center on a $150,000 bond.
