Constable Jones arrested again

Ellis County Constable Mike Jones was arrested on August 24, 2017.

ELLIS COUNTY — Ellis County Precinct 4 Constable Mike Jones, 57, was arrested on August 24 for the third time since May 2016.

According to an arrest warrant, Jones is accused of driving recklessly at a woman who is a witness in previous cases against him and using a law-enforcement database to obtain information about her.

Jones was charged with two counts of misuse of official information, one count of retaliation and one count of deadly conduct. He was booked into the Wayne McCollum Detention Center at 10:57 a.m. on Thursday, August 4. He has since been released from the Ellis County Jail after posting $80,000 in bonds.

Ellis County Citizen attempted to reach out to Jones' attorney Friday night for comment and are waiting for a response.

Jones was previously indicted on May 11, 2016 on a Class A Misdemeanor and official misconduct charge. He was accused of using county property for his re-election campaign and personal business.

He was indicted a second time on February 8 for third degree felony of tampering with evidence. He was accused of remotely deleting information from his cellphone after it was already in police custody as evidence.
