Major accident on Hwy 67 sends three to hospital

A three-vehicle accident on Hwy 67 in Midlothian on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015 sent three people to the hospital.

MIDLOTHIAN — On Tuesday September 1 at 8:27 p.m., the Northern Ellis Emergency Dispatch (N.E.E.D.) received a call of a Major Accident in the 4700 block of North US Highway 67 in the southbound lanes of traffic, just past Shiloh Road.

The first caller, a female who was involved in the accident called to report that she had been struck from behind by another vehicle.

The N.E.E.D. then received a second call that a vehicle had struck another vehicle that was sitting in the roadway without lights. This was the vehicle of the first caller whose vehicle had become disabled after being struck by the initial vehicle.

There were a total of three vehicles involved. The female driver of the first vehicle had minor injuries and the driver of the vehicle that struck her vehicle was transported via air ambulance to Baylor Hospital in downtown Dallas and at last report, was in the I.C.U. in critical condition.

The driver of the third vehicle was taken by ambulance to Methodist Central and Midlothian Police did not have an update on his condition at press time.

An "Advanced: accident investigator was called to the scene to assist the on-duty officer who was assigned the call. Cedar Hill Police assisted by diverting traffic off Hwy 67 on to the service road just to the north of the accident scene.

The accident is still under investigation and the state report should be completed early next week.
