"The fire itself was contained to the kitchen. The rest of the building was damaged by smoke," Boyd said. "The men did an excellent job of keeping the fire in the area of origin with no extension into the remainder of the building."

Boyd said firefighting operations took less than 30 minutes and approximately an hour was spent on salvage and overhaul operations.

The building was unoccupied at the time of the fire and no firemen were injured during the operation.

Restaurant owner Phil Balsamo said he was thankful that no one was injured.

He was already hard at work Monday clearing out the entire building and said he plans on reopening in a couple of weeks.
