Shooting in Garrett kills one; suspect arrested Posted in Ellis County, Headline, Surrounding Areas on January 19, 2019 by Staff Report Photo courtesy Ellis County Sherrif Timothy Brown of Ennis was arrested on Saturday, January 19, 2019 for the suspected shooting and death of Donald Claxton of Ennis on Friday, January 18, 2019.GARRETT, TEXAS — Ellis County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a shooting at 10:43 p.m. behind Spec's Liquor Store in Garrett, Texas on Friday, January 18, 2019.Witnesses reported a white male, later identified as Donald Claxton of Ennis, was shot and lying in a driveway of a mobile home in the 4000 block of Spur 469. Claxton was taken to Ennis Regional Hospital by American Medical Response (AMR) and was pronounced deceased by Ellis County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Chris Macon.Ellis County Sheriff's Office investigators identified the shooter as Timothy Brown of Ennis. Brown was apprehended in Ennis in the early morning hours of Saturday. No law enforcement officers were injured in Brown's apprehension.
