ECSO Explorers take second place overall honors at state competition

ELLIS COUNTY — The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office Explorers Post 106 took second place overall honors out of 76 teams entered at the 27th annual TLEEAA State Competition, which took place July 28-31 at the University of Texas at Arlington.

WAXAHACHIE — At approximately 5:40 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, visitors to Lake Waxahachie witnessed a swimmer go underwater. Those witnesses called 911 and tried unsuccessfully to reach the swimmer.

MIDLOTHIAN — On July 25, 2016, in the 443rd Judicial District Court of Ellis County, Charles "Trey" Daubitz III, 45, of Midlothian pled guilty to Delivery of a Controlled Substance to a Child, and he was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Armed robbery suspect on the loose; one arrested

ELLIS COUNTY — Thursday evening, August 4, Ellis County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a report of an armed robbery at a residence on Farm-to-Market 876, where two male suspects had fled the scene.
