Homicide investigation: Ferris woman found dead in Hill County Posted in Headline, Surrounding Areas on February 03, 2017 by Staff Report ELLIS COUNTY — The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office is working jointly with the Hill County Sheriff’s Office relating to the discovery of a body in Hill County.Hill County deputies were alerted to the body Wednesday afternoon, locating it in a field off of Hill County Road 3102 east of the interstate. The case is being worked as a homicide.The female victim, Debra Murdock Ballard, 58, of Ferris, was reported missing to the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office on Feb. 1, 2017.This is an ongoing investigation and further details are not available for release at this time.Anyone with information relating to the case can contact Sgt.
