Rep. Barton supports bill to defund Planned Parenthood Posted in Surrounding Areas on July 27, 2015 by Staff Report Congressman Joe Barton.WASHINGTON — Rep. Joe Barton (R-Ennis/Arlington) released the following statement after co-sponsoring H.R. 3134, the "Defund Planned Parenthood Act of 2015.""The recent videos released showing the way Planned Parenthood operates are truly abhorrent. Watching one of the organization’s officials talk about her desire to be able to afford a 'Lamborghini' while discussing cost associated with donating 'fetal organs' over a nice meal and a glass of wine was disgusting. These aren’t just fetuses. They are talking about babies."The fact that Planned Parenthood performed more than 300,000 abortions last year alone is tragic enough, but watching people haggle over the reimbursement costs for aborted baby parts seems barbaric."The only way to stop this is to strip this organization of your tax dollars. That is why I co-sponsored the ‘Defund Planned Parenthood Act. The legislation would place an immediate moratorium on all federal funding of Planned Parenthood and its affiliates for the span of one year while Congress conducts a full investigation into the organization’s activities."I am pro-life because I believe that all life is precious and should be respected and I back that up with my vote. As a lawmaker, I believe I have a constitutional and moral obligation to protect those who do not have the power to protect themselves. I will continue to fight in Congress for the unborn."Click here to read more about our coverage of the allegations against Planned Parenthood. You may also be interested in readingRep.
