The Maypearl Independence Day Celebration is slated to begin on Friday, July 3, 2015 at 6 p.m. on Main Street.MAYPEARL — Maypearl residents are in store for a fun-filled Friday evening under the stars with a street dance, silent auction, Miss and Mr. Independence Pageant, fireworks show and more organized by Friends of Maypearl.The July 3 evening will kick off at 6 p.m. with a street dance in front of Troubles Tavern on Main Street in downtown Maypearl and will go until approximately 9 p.m.During the street dance, a silent auction will be held from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in front of the Service Center with auction winners announced at 9 p.m.The Miss and Mr. Independence Pageant, for children 0 through 17 years of age, will take place at 7 p.m. on the band stage. There is a $15 entry per contestant.Additional activities include a watermelon contest, cake walk and vendors will be set up to offer food, beverages and other items.The exciting evening will end with a fireworks show beginning at 9:30 p.m. For safety reasons, the fireworks display will be held at the Maypearl Sports Complex on FM 66.
