Glenn Heights PD resolve attempted suicide peacefully Posted in Headline, Surrounding Areas on June 19, 2015 by Staff Report GLENN HEIGHTS — At approximately 10:30 a.m., Glenn Heights Police responded to a call of an individual threatening suicide at a single-family home in the 2600 block of Lake Ridge Dr.Police arrived on site and secured a perimeter restricting access along Lake Ridge in the subdivision. Additionally, nearby homes and Shields Elementary School were placed on lock down, no students are currently at Shields Elementary.Communication has been established and the police continue to negotiate with the individual.Additional agency support has been provided by the cities of Ovilla, Red Oak, Lancaster, DeSoto, Cedar Hill and the Southern Regional Response Group.UPDATE 3:24 p.m. - Glenn Heights PD issued the following statement: "This incident has been resolved peacefully with Police negotiators being able to secure the subjects safe surrender. The Glenn Height PD would like to extend great thanks to the City of Red Oak, City of Ovilla, Ellis County Sheriff's Office and the City of Cedar Hill. We would also like to thank all member agencies of the SRRG."
