10-year-old killed Sunday in Alvarado crash Posted in Headline, Surrounding Areas on May 11, 2015 by Staff Report ALVARADO — Alvarado Police, Alvarado Fire, and CareFlite ground ambulance received a report of a three vehicle accident on IH 35W near mile marker 25 on Sunday, May 10. The location of the accident was between Maple (CR 401) and US 67.At approximately 6:17 p.m., a red 2002 Dodge passenger car was travelling south on IH 35W. The vehicle hydroplaned on water and began to spin. The Dodge then made contact with a green 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV. The force of the impact made the Hyundai lose control and cross the center grass median of the interstate. As it crossed into the northbound lanes, the front of the Hyundai struck the front of a black 2012 Lexus CT200h passenger car headed northbound.Despite efforts of motorists and emergency crews, 10-year-old Vera Cowie of Euless succumbed to her injuries sustained in the crash at 6:30 p.m. Vera was the rear passenger of the Lexus and appears to have been properly restrained. The drivers of the Hyundai and Lexus were both transported by CareFlite ground ambulances to area hospitals.
