Human bones found near Alma

A Pilot Point "Bearcat Pride" t-shirt was found on human remains discovered near Alma on Saturday, July 15, 2017.

ELLIS COUNTY — The Ellis County Criminal Investigations Division of the Ellis County Sheriff's Office is requesting help from the public to identify human remains found on Saturday, July 15th, 2017.

Anthropologists from the University of North Texas Center for Human Identification has determined the remains are of female gender - African-American decent.

The female is described as approximately between sixteen to twenty-two years of age. She is medium muscular build and medium framed. She is 5’6” to 6” tall.

Her bones were found by hog hunters in a wooded area near Alma about a half of a mile off Section House Road near Interstate 45.

Law enforcement currently does not know how long the female has been deceased.
