All clear after bomb threat at Walmart

MIDLOTHIAN — On Thursday January 19, 2017 at approximately 7:25 p.m., the Northern Ellis Emergency Dispatch received a call from a male who stated that there was a bomb at the Midlothian Walmart.

Officers were dispatched to the store and made contact with management and then evacuated the store of all shoppers and employees. Officers then checked the store for any suspicious devices/packages or subjects and did not locate any suspicious devices/packages or persons.

The evacuation went quickly and calmly with no injuries. At 9:45 p.m., the store was released back to Walmart management and they anticipated the store would be back open for business at 10:30 p.m.

"Midlothian PD would like to thank the management, employees and citizens for their cooperation at the incident tonight," Midlothian Police stated in a social media post.

Midlothian Police are in the process of investigating the threat to determine who was responsible for the false report.
