Ellis County Sheriff’s Officer’s Association announces endorsements

ELLIS COUNTY — The Ellis County Sheriff's Officer's Association (ECSOA) voted Tuesday to endorse five candidates running for elected county positions.

ECSOA President Joshua Atilano sent the candidates letters informing them of the association's endorsements. Videos, available at press time, of the vetting of each of the endorsed candidates can be found at the bottom of this article.

Johnny Brown earned the association's endorsement for Ellis County Sheriff.

"You have demonstrated strong leadership, and you have been an outspoken advocate for the employees of your Office and our membership. We believe you continue to be the right choice for Ellis County," Atilano wrote.

"We deeply appreciate your service and dedication. We look forward to your continued success."

Terry Nay and Mike Jones earned the association's endorsements for Ellis County Constable Precinct 2 and Ellis County Constable Precinct 4, respectively.

"Your experience and strong working relationship with local law enforcement is valuable, and we believe you continue to be the right choice for Ellis County," Atilano wrote to both candidates.

"We deeply appreciate your service and dedication. We look foward to working with you in the future."

Bobby Crittenden earned the association's endorsement for Ellis County Commissioner Precinct 1.

"Your budgeting and construction experience is an asset to the citizens and the Commissioners' Court, and we believe you are the right choice for Ellis County," Atilano wrote.

(Editor's Note: Crittenden did not participate in the Ellis County Citizen candidate questionnaire despite multiple attempts to reach him.)

Paul Perry earned the association's endorsement for Ellis County Commissioner Precinct 3.

"You have shown to be a strong advocate for the employees of the Sheriff's Office and our association members, and we believe you continue to be the right choice for Ellis County," Atilano wrote.

"We deeply appreciate your service and dedication to local law enforcement. We look forward to working with you in the future.
