Man fleeing from Red Oak officers caught and charged with two felonies

Alfredo David DeGracia, 25, was arrested on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 on two felony charges after fleeing from Red Oak Police. He also had active warrants out from Waxahachie Police.

RED OAK — A man was taken into custody on two felony charges and outstanding warrants Wednesday morning after officers from the Red Oak Police Department stopped a fleeing vehicle that resulted in a short foot pursuit.

Officers observed a vehicle traveling westbound in the 400 block of Red Oak Road with an obscured rear license plate on Wednesday at approximately 10:58 a.m. The vehicle had a large storage tote mounted to the rear of the vehicle covering the license plate and the vehicle appeared to be a black Ford Expedition.

The Officer activated his emergency lights in the 600 block of Red Oak Road to stop the violator for the offense.

The suspect vehicle failed to yield to the emergency lights and sired, started to accelerate and disregarded all traffic control devices. The vehicle stayed on the Southbound IH-35E service road and Red Oak Police personnel advised the dispatcher of the pursuit.

Officers requested that the on duty dispatcher contact the Waxahachie Police Department and brief them of the incoming pursuit and requested that spike strips be prepared for deployment. The pursuit continued along S. IH-35E service road until the suspect vehicle entered S. IH-35E coming into Waxahachie.

The suspect vehicle was spiked by the Waxahachie Police Department just south of the 399A mile marker on the S. IH-35E service road. The driver's side front tire was deflated by the spike strips and ths suspect vehicle started to slow and rolled to a stop in the median between the S. IH-35E service road and S. IH-35E.

The Hispanic male driver, identified as Alfredo David DeGracia, 25, fled the vehicle on foot and a short foot pursuit ensued with DeGracia being taken into custody without any further incident.

DeGracia showed to have active warrants out of the City of Waxahachie for driving wile license invalid, fail to display driver's license, theft of property and failure to appear. The warrants were confirmed and added to the felony charges of evading arrest/detention with a vehicle and possession of a controlled substance under one gram.

During a search of the vehicle, a white crystal-like substance was recovered from the front driver's compartment which officers recognized as methamphetamine.

DeGracia was transported back to the Red Oak Police Department pending the arraignment on the aforementioned offenses.
