Red Oak traffic accident claims one life and sends one to hospital

RED OAK — On Tuesday, December 22nd, 2015, at approximately 2:43 p.m., the Northern Ellis Emergency Dispatch Center received a call of a major accident at Bear Creek and the North IH-35E service road in the City of Lancaster.

The call was transferred to the Lancaster Police Department which dispatched Lancaster Emergency personnel to the scene. Lancaster Emergency personnel arrived on scene and provided medical attention to two occupants of a single vehicle accident which were subsequently transported to Methodist Central Hospital in Dallas.

Lancaster Fire Department contacted the Northern Ellis Emergency Dispatch Center and advised that the accident was at the intersection of the 900 block of North IH-35E service road and Tater Brown Road within the City of Red Oak and requested Red Oak Police Department personnel to respond to the scene. Red Oak Police Department personnel arrived on scene to start the accident investigation.

According to witnesses and physical evidence at the scene, the White 1998 Toyota 4-Runner drove off the roadway and collided with a concrete drainage culvert. The owner and driver of the White 1998 Toyota 4-Runner has been identified as Bernard Conley, 84, of Dallas, Texas. The passenger was identified as his wife Antha Conley, 81, of Dallas, Texas.

Bernard is currently in critical condition and Antha was pronounced deceased at Methodist Central Hospital in Dallas.

The crash investigation is being conducted by the Red Oak Police Department with the assistance of the Lancaster Police Department.
