MILFORD — Allena Perry of Milford was one of 70 fellows and scholars honored in Houston last Friday at the 18th Annual Celebration of Life benefiting Texas Right to Life.

Allena has been a Dr. Joseph Graham Fellow on the campus of Stephen F. Austin University since 2013. Texas Right to Life established this scholarship program seven years ago; recipients implement legal, peaceful and educational events on 25 Texas university campuses throughout the year to raise awareness about all life issues.

"The Dr. Joseph Graham Fellowship provided me and other college students across the state with the knowledge and resources needed to fully defend life on our campuses," Allena said.

The Celebration of Life event also featured many pro-life Texas congressional leaders and was emceed by longtime Houston radio talk show host Sam Malone.

Allena is the daughter of Paul and Rebecca Perry. She is scheduled to graduate from SFASU in December with a major in strategic communication. Allena has already put her academic and TRTL training to further use, having worked for a public relations firm advocating for the rights of all individuals, from the unborn and those who are denied basic freedoms and liberties to victims of human trafficking and more.

Other pro-life college students are welcome to apply for the TRTL scholarship opportunities; applications are due by Feb. 27, 2016. These college leaders may earn up to $8000 throughout their undergraduate collegiate career. TRTL also offers pro-life medical and law student scholarships.
