Glenn Heights packs the fun in for the annual Family Festival on July 25

GLENN HEIGHTS — Finally, the summer hit is here! Glenn Heights presents its annual family festival on Saturday, July 25, 2015.

Saturday will be a day filled with fun, food and family throughout Glenn Heights. Bright and early, the day begins with a 5k Run, Walk and Roll and 1 Mile Fun Run along Bear Creek and Uhl Roads. Proceeds from the 5k will benefit Glenn Heights' Veteran's Memorial fund.

The Veteran's Memorial 5k leads right back into Heritage Park where the long-lasting fun awaits. There will be something for everyone there including food trucks, bounce houses, a petting zoo, 3:3 basketball tournament, spades and dominoes competition and a family-style Amazing Race competition.

This year features a unique dessert competition open to all citizens and city staff. Entrants are encouraged to register online, but can also enter at 9:30 a.m. at the festival. Judging will take place at noon and the categories are either cakes or pies. Prizes will certainly be awarded as well as certificates for creative entries.

Guaranteed to be a hit with the youngest of Glenn Heights' residents, a game truck will be in attendance at the festival. The truck features up to seven 3-D HDTVs, theatre surround sound, satellite viewing, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Xbox Kinect, Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3, Playstation 4 and dozens of games to complement these systems.

There will also be live performances from musical acts including The David Whiteman Band, renowned R&B Legend, Lenny Williams and local bands, The "O" Road Band and Revival Jam.

"This year's festival is packed with more fun and activity than previous years. We want to ensure our Glenn Heights' residents know they are appreciated and give them something fun to participate in with family while enjoying a nice summer day," Glenn Heights Mayor Leon P. Tate said.

The Festival will take place at Heritage Park located at 400 E. Bear Creek Rd from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. For more information and events registration please visit http://glennheightstx.gov/community/events/family_festival.
