Arrest made in Ferris woman’s murder

Frank "Frankie" Ortiz, 30, of Lancaster was arrested Monday, July 13, by the Ellis County Sheriff's Office on a Murder charge for the death of Evette Marie Quezada, 18, in Ferris.

FERRIS — Police have arrested a suspect in the murder of Evette Marie Quezada of Ferris.

On Sunday, July 12 at approximately 2:26 a.m., Ellis County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a disturbance in the 100 block of Newton Road in Ferris, Texas. Upon arrival Deputies found one deceased female and two male individuals at the scene. The two males were taken to area hospitals for treatment.

The deceased female suffered a single gunshot wound to the head. One male victim suffered a gunshot wound to the hand. The other male was transported to the hospital and released Monday night.

Investigators determined through witness statements and evidence at the crime scene one of the occupants of the car was the shooter who caused the death of Evette Marie Quezada, 18.

Investigators determined Quezada’s brother who was the driver suffered the gunshot wound to the hand. He is in stable condition and expected to fully recover.

The third occupant of the vehicle, Frank "Frankie" Ortiz, 30, of Lancaster was arrested last night and booked into the Wayne McCollum Detention Center at 10:50 p.m. He was arraigned this morning on a Murder charge and his bond has been set at $1 million.
