ENNIS — Residents in Ellis County experienced damage again early Saturday morning as storms rolled through. A large tree fell on the home of Samantha and Brandon Slovak and their neighbor's home in Ennis at around 6 a.m.

Although the two houses suffered significant damage, Slovak said, "Everyone is safe!"

Ellis County has seen significant damage the past month as storms brought high winds and torrential rains.

Ellis County Commissioner Precinct 1 and County Judge Pro Tem Dennis Robinson signed a disaster declaration Wednesday, May 27 during Ellis County Judge Carol Bush's absence.

The declaration is effective for seven days unless continued or renewed by the Ellis County Commissioners' Court.

The declaration was issued because of the potential for widespread suffering resulting from the May 2015 severe weather and flooding, according to the declaration.
