35th Annual Scarborough Renaissance Festival begins Saturday

WAXAHACHIE — One of North Texas' favorite traditions – Scarborough Renaissance Festival® opens this Saturday, April 4 for its 35th season!

Scarborough Renaissance Festival® will kick off its 2015 season by offering up to three children 12 and under free admission with every paid adult and half price for Seniors 65+! Senior discount offer only valid on tickets purchased at the Scarborough ticket booth on event days. In celebration of the Easter holiday weekend, Scarborough Renaissance Festival® will have an Easter Treasure Hunt for children both Saturday and Sunday and a Renaissance Easter service will be held on Sunday at 12:30 pm at the Crown Stage.

The 35th season of Scarborough Renaissance Festival® opens Saturday, April 4th and will run every Saturday and Sunday (and Memorial Day Monday) for eight consecutive weekends through May 25, 2015 and is open 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. each day.

Scarborough Renaissance Festival® is interactive fun for everyone, 16th Century style! Visitors will enjoy the thrill of full combat jousts and Birds of Prey exhibitions, non-stop Renaissance entertainment on 21 stages, enchanting Mermaids, Human Chess Matches, children's Knighting Ceremonies, hundreds of costumed performers, games of skill, Renaissance rides and so much more! Scarborough also offers incredible shopping with exquisite hand-made crafts in over 200 village shoppes and marvelous artisan demonstrations in crafts like glassblowing, candle making, stone carving, metal works and many others.

"2015 is sure to be our best year ever!" says Coy Sevier, General Manager. "I think that the Festival has really outdone itself for our 35th season with outstanding new entertainment, amazing artisans and delicious new food you just have to taste for yourself. We are even unveiling a brand new Brothers stage that has been completely re-built for the 2015 season and we can't wait for people to see it."

Entertainment debuting April 4th & 5th include Topsy Turvy – The Gypsy Jesters, Steele Sisters, Whistle the Fairy, Lady Prudence (lap harpist), Glenn Bailey (small pipes) and the newest addition to the Scarborough performing company – the 'Spanish Court' – who will endeavor to form an alliance with our very own King Henry VIII and perhaps woo him with a perspective (Spanish) bride throughout the season. It will be great fun!

New artisans & shoppes for the 2015 season are Love Good Wood, Medieval Map Maker, Bon Bon Musical Instruments, La Forge Signs, Royal Peacock, Mining Sleuth, Lady Artisan (bodice coolers), Scribal Workshop and Ewe Olde Petting Zoo is presenting a new Unicorn Photo Opportunity. Guest artisan April 4th – 26th is Knick-Knackronisms (woven wire creations).

Scarborough Renaissance Festival® is a step above when it comes to the food selection – it is truly Food fit for a King! Throughout the 2015 season, visitors can feast on some of our newest creations like Jalapeno Bottle Caps, Spicy Corn Nuggets, Lobster and Mascarpone Cheese Ravioli, Blitz Kuche, deep fried Watermelon, chocolate covered bananas, or the newest addition to the "largest food-on-a-stick selection in Texas" – donut holes on-a-stick! You can even dine at our sit down restaurant, the Rose & Crown Inn Restaurant that features daily specials.

Visitors over 21 can partake in Scarborough Mead, beer, wine and other adult beverages at one of the nine pubs and taverns. There are also daily wine and beer tasting events for those with a more discerning pallet. Tastings require a separate ticket that can be purchased in advance.

Scarborough Renaissance Festival® is open on Saturdays, Sundays, and Memorial Day Monday, April 4 – May 25, 2015, rain or shine, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Located in Waxahachie, Scarborough Renaissance Festival® is just 30 minutes south of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex on FM 66 off of I-35E at exit 399A. From Waco, the Festival is only 60 minutes – follow I-35E north to Exit 399.

Admission is $25 for adults and $10 for children, ages 5-12 . Children age 4 and under are admitted free. Parking is free compliments of Waxahachie Autoplex.
