Midlothian Heritage HS announces new girls soccer coach

The Midlothian Independent School District announced Gerald Slovacek as the new head girls soccer coach at Midlothian Heritage High School for the 2015-2016 school year. He will also teach business classes.

Slovacek graduated from New Mexico State University in 1994 with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and is completing his 11th year in education and coaching.

He has been an assistant football coach for the past seven years, and assistant soccer coach the last four years at Midlothian High School.

During his time at Midlothian HS, he has coached both the JV boys and JV girls soccer teams, and assisted with the Varsity. He led the JV1 girls soccer program to the District Championship in 2015, and was runner up in the 2014 season.

He also coached wrestling, track and power-lifting during his coaching career at Midlothian HS.

Prior to Midlothian, Slovacek coached and taught at Alvarado High School. Coaching duties in Alvarado included assistant football, assistant soccer, assistant track and head power-lifting.

Slovacek was born in Ennis, Texas. He lived in Ennis until the 10th grade before moving to Dallas, Texas and graduating from Hillcrest High School in 1990.

Upon graduating from high school, he earned a scholarship to play football at New Mexico State University. At New Mexico State University, he was a two year team captain and started 33 straight games for the Aggies on the offensive line at center.

After college, he signed a contract and played briefly with the San Diego Chargers of the National Football League.

He has two children, Alexandra and Brandon. Alexandra, 19, is a sophomore at Texas A&M University and Brandon, 18, graduates from high school this spring and will attend the University of Texas in the fall.

Coach Slovacek is appreciative of the time he spent at Midlothian High School, and is excited to help build a championship tradition at Midlothian Heritage High School.
