WAXAHACHIE — KBEC 1390 AM will air an open forum with Waxahachie Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Glenn on Saturday, April 4 regarding the proposed $125 million Waxahachie ISD bond. The broadcast will begin at 2 p.m.

KBEC's own Jim Phillips invites Waxahachie parents, residents and property owners to submit questions for Dr. Glenn via the KBEC Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/KBEC1390.

Questions can be submitted up until April 1.

"All questions will be forwarded to Dr. Glenn and will be the basis for the forum," Phillips wrote in an email to the Ellis County Citizen.

Opponents of the bond proposal have begun to organize and have created a public Facebook group entitled "It's ok to vote NO! on Waxahachie ISD BOND!"

The group will be holding a Vote No sign wave on Friday, March 27 in front of Taco Cabana on Hwy 77 in Waxahachie. The sign wave is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. The public is invited to participate.

The Waxahachie ISD Board of Trustees voted on Tuesday, Feb. 17 to call for the bond election.

Early voting begins on Monday, April 27 and runs through Tuesday, May 5. Election day is May 9.

If you are not a registered voter, the last day to register is April 9.

If passed by voters, the bond will result in a 12.5 cent per $100 valuation property tax increase. Residents with a home valued at $100,000 would see a monthly tax increase of $10.50, or $126 per year. Residents with a home valued at 200,000 would see a monthly tax increase of $21, or $252,000 per year.
