Waxahachie hires Wade Goolsby as next police chief

WAXAHACHIE — The City of Waxahachie has selected Wade Goolsby to be the new Waxahachie Police Chief. Goolsby is currently serving as the Deputy Chief for the Seguin Police Department, a position he has held since 2008. He will begin is position in Waxahachie on March 9, 2015.

Prior to his role in Seguin, Goolsby was the Chief of Police in Southlake from 2005 to 2008. He was also the Deputy Chief for the City of Coppell from 1995 to 2005. Goolsby began his career in Arlington, where he started as a patrol officer in 1980, and worked his way through the ranks and was a Sergeant upon his departure in 1995. He and his wife have two grown sons that are also located in the DFW area.

Goolsby holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture and a Masters degree in Public Administration, both from the University of Texas at Arlington. He also holds his Master Certification through the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.

“Through his years of service, Wade Goolsby has developed a broad range of experience and expertise which will complement the Waxahachie Police Department very well. We are excited to have him here,” said Paul Stevens, City Manager.

Stevens also expressed his appreciation for Assistant Chief Mitch Bartley for his service as Interim Chief. “Chief Bartley did an outstanding job during this time. His pride in the department and police service always shines through,” said Stevens.

Goolsby’s appointment will be confirmed at the February 16, 2015 City Council Meeting. Following that confirmation, he is expected to begin work on March 9, 2015.
